From time to time our confidence, self-esteem and belief in ourselves is challenged. For some, the challenge is chronic. Those for whom confidence does not come naturally, becoming a confident person (or regaining your confidence) is a creative, proactive process. Here are three quick tips to help you be more confident and successful, especially when you're stuck.

  1. You don't have to believe in yourself. You just have to commit.
Fear, reluctance, and lack of confidence slow you down. But what can stop you from breaking through a wall of underachievement or self-sabotage is a lack of momentum. If you want to see progress, commit to putting one foot in front of the other. You will move forward whether you believe you can or not. Keep your momentum steady and focused to break out of negative cycles, patterns, and habits.

  2. You don't deserve anything you get. You get what you accept.
The biggest blow to your confidence or success may have happened because you allowed it. Whether you "deserved" it or not is a moot point the minute you choose to put up with it. You cannot move beyond your obstacles if you choose to accept them. To experience a breakthrough, be ready, able and fearless about not settling for "scraps". Only accept what you really want and take effective, proactive steps to create what you desire.
  1. Build yourself up and your barriers will naturally come down.
Sometimes what you perceive as a barrier to your confidence or success is really a big hole where your power should be. Develop the internal and external resources you need to outgrow your limitations and move forward. Zero in on the situation you want to get into rather than the one you want to avoid. Pinpoint what you need to change about yourself to be in natural harmony with what you want. Create a new philosophical approach and/or action plan to become the success story you want to be.
