This week, I'm kicking things off with an affirmation reflection. Affirmations are positive declarations to support your intentions as well as to summon and reinforce the strength to challenge and overcome self-defeating thoughts. When you repeat them regularly and (perhaps most importantly) believe them, you can start to make positive changes. Coupled with action, using affirmations is a powerful technique to rewire your brain, reprogram your subconscious, reframe your mindset, and retune your energy. It's a great way to help you align more closely with your wealth and wellness goals. The affirmation I'm going to share will help you to generate and use positive thoughts and energy more powerfully. Self-reflection questions follow at the end to help open you up even more. Use them for journaling prompts, contemplation, artistic expression, and other things you feel inspired to do.
You'll notice that I said believing your affirmation is perhaps the most important element in using affirmations effectively. Many people use affirmations to try and convince themselves of something they don't yet accept as truth. In other words, they're lying to themselves. This approach drastically minimizes the power of affirmations and can even backfire. If you've ever repeated an affirmation only to have the exact opposite rain down on you like a ton of bricks, then you know what I'm talking about.
When affirmations attack, the cause is unconscious resistance. It's like the part of you that doesn't believe a lick of your affirmation (or is afraid of it) fights back. The blockages in your mind and your energy become real-life obstacles in your everyday existence. The secret to a powerful affirmation is that it's already true—that's why you're affirming it. But that sounds like a catch-22, right? Most people use affirmations because they want to change and manifest something new. To put all of your energy behind an affirmation, phrase it so that all of you can get on board. For example, if you really don't believe that you have everything you need to be successful, then consider affirming that you are open to seeing your path to success more clearly—if you believe that wholeheartedly.
5 Ways to make any affirmation more powerful:
- Visualize what you are affirming.
- Repeat your affirmation in the mirror while looking yourself in the eye.
- Enter a meditative state before speaking your affirmation.
- Record yourself saying the affirmation and then listen back while walking in nature or going to sleep.
- Do movements while reciting your affirmations, such as dancing, doing yoga poses, tai chi, or symbolic movements.
Affirmation: I feed my spirit each day with positive thoughts.
Positive thoughts keep my mind in the right space. When I have positive thoughts, I have positive moods. A positive mood leads to courageous actions. My spirit has the best chance to soar when I keep my mind filled with positive thoughts.
I make the effort to hold positive thoughts when life is challenging because I know that positive thinking is the best medicine for troubling times.
Everything begins to shift when I engage in positive self-talk and positive thinking. I can transform a bad day into a great day quickly if I take control of my thinking.
I strive to think positive thoughts from the moment I awake until I fall asleep. When I catch myself thinking negatively, I immediately replace the negative thought with a positive one. This is enough to put my day back on track.
Good things happen when I think positively.
I keep positive thoughts in my head by asking myself positive questions that feed my spirit and allow me to smile: What is the best thing that happened today? What can I be thankful for in my life? What is the most exciting thing in my life right now?
Today, I am focused on keeping a positive attitude from sunrise to sunset. My thoughts are positive, light, and hopeful. My spirit is soaring. I feed my spirit each day with positive thoughts.
Self-Reflection Questions:
- What can I do when I find myself thinking negatively?
- How can I start each day with a positive attitude?
- How would my life be altered if I constantly thought positively?
