It might sound silly to suggest that you can increase the amount of good luck you experience in your life. However, there are people that have studied lucky people and have found some consistent similarities.
They also noticed several similarities between unlucky people.
Luck, of course, is largely random but, there are ways to increase your opportunities to be lucky and experience fortunate life-changing events. For example, a person that spends more time outside is more likely to see a rainbow. A person that is interested in rainbows is more likely to see one, too.
Luck involves perception, clarity, action, observation, and opportunity to help you be ready and in the right place, at the right time. You really can do things to become luckier!
Put these strategies to good use for more luck in your life:
- Be clear on what it is you want. The universe has a way of bringing you what you desire. Or maybe it's just that you notice the things that you value. Either way, knowing what you want is a great start to increasing the odds of experiencing what is commonly seen as luck.
- Take advantage of opportunities. You never know what might happen when you pursue an opportunity. If you do nothing, you can be pretty sure that nothing out of the ordinary will happen. Taking action and putting yourself out there increases your luck exponentially. It's hard to be lucky while sitting at home watching TV.
- Increase your lucky chances and connections. You have to play to win, as the saying goes. The type of people that win at bingo, for example, are the type of people that play bingo. To increase your luck, do what lucky people do and be where lucky people are. By spending more time in opportunity-laden places and around people with good fortune and a "lucky" mindset, you give yourself the best odds of finding good fortune yourself.
- Practice gratitude. Gratitude uplifts your mood and perspective. It also helps you pay more attention to wins you may have overlooked or underappreciated. Plus, having an aura of gratitude makes you more enjoyable to be around. When you put all of this together, gratitude begets more things to be grateful for and can help you uncover luck you didn't know you had.
- Follow your gut. Sometimes it's better to follow your gut than your brain or anything else. Your gut feeling, or intuition, is driven by the wisest part of you. Listen to what it has to say, take action as soon as possible, and see what happens.
- Be positive. Good things are more likely to happen if you have a positive attitude. When you expect failure, you don't try as hard or might not even try at all. Studies show that expectations affect effort. When you don't try, obviously nothing good is likely to happen. A positive attitude attracts luck, and a negative attitude chases luck away.
- Think proactively. Staying ahead of the game seems to help luck, too. When you're only reactive, you're dealing with situations as they happen. You might be surprised by how much "bad luck" you can avoid with proactive thinking. A proactive attitude about the world can also help to make the most of good opportunities.
- Be open-minded. The more open-minded you are, the more options you have available to you. Think about saying yes to things you might normally say no to—especially if you've been struggling to change your luck. You might be surprised by just how many lucky doors you open simply by opening your mind and your eyes to new experiences and possibilities.
- Believe in yourself. Belief in oneself generates and inspires more opportunities, options, and the motivation to pursue them. When you believe you can be successful, you tend to be more determined to make progress. If you believe in yourself more, what luck might you create in the next 90 days? Consider this a challenge!
- Tell a "friend." I needed an investor for one of my real estate deals. While visiting with a family friend, I realized he might be interested to help supplement his income. I told him about the opportunity, and he invested $100,000. How lucky was that? I had no idea he even had that kind of money laying around. Create luck for yourself by speaking it into existence. Tell others what you're looking for.
You can take steps to experience more good luck in your life or career. With a positive attitude and perspective, you can create more of what you want. With an open mind, you'll see more opportunities that could be viewed as lucky. Knowing what you want increases the odds of finding it or ways of obtaining it.
All you need to do is give yourself the chance to be luckier!
